My One-On-One With Usher For New Film, 'Burden'
Last night I spoke with Usher, Forest Whitaker and Robbie Brenner, the producer of @burdenmovie at the Atlanta premiere at Plaza Theater. Based on a true story in 1996, a museum celebrating the KKK opens in a small South Carolina town. Reverend Kennedy (Forest Whitaker) resolves to do everything in his power to prevent racial tensions from exploding.
This heavy but redemptive film was shot in Jackson, GA. The screening was followed by a Q&A with NPR’s Lisa Rayam.
Watch Usher and Forest tell me the hardest part about filming the racially charged film. Producer Robbie Brenner shared what happened when real Klansmen showed up on set!
In theaters 3/6. Check out a few pics from the night.
